ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's basketball team will enter a challenging week in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) ranked 21st in NCAA DIII, according to the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll.
The Thunder will be on the road against the two teams joining them atop the league standings in Hope College and #13 Calvin University. The matchup with the Flying Dutch will take place on Wednesday, February 8 starting at 5:30 p.m. while the game against the Knights will be on Saturday, February 11 at 3 p.m. Winning both would put Trine in the driver's seat to be the top seed in the MIAA Tournament.
Last week, Trine defeated both Albion College and Alma College inside the MTI Center. The Thunder topped the Britons 65-41 and beat the Scots by a tally of 67-59 to move to 19-2 overall this season. With four league games remaining, Trine is 9-1 in conference play.
Senior guard Connor Jones distributed eight assists against the Alma Scots, the second-highest total for him this season. Two weeks ago, he dished out nine dimes at Adrian College. Jones leads the team with 4.1 assists per game and has a 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio. Jones is second in the MIAA with 87 total assists.
