ANGOLA, Ind. – Tara Bieniewicz [Chesterfield, Mich. / Dakota] of the Trine University women's basketball team has been named a Preseason Third Team All-American by D3hoops.com.
Bieniewicz enters her senior season coming off a year where she was named Second Team All-Region, her second time nominated to an All-Region team in her career. In 2020-21, Bieniewicz led the Thunder in scoring with 10.8 points per game while shooting 40.4 percent (55-of-136) overall from the floor. The majority of her shot attempts came from behind the three-point line where she made a team-high 35 triples in a team-leading 85 attempts for a 41.2 shot percentage. Her three-pointers made and attempt totals also led the conference.
She helped lead Trine to a 14-3 record and an appearance in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship game. It was in the MIAA finals where Bieniewicz scored a season-high 19 points, pulled down five rebounds and sank five three-point attempts.
Bieniewicz and the Thunder take the floor for the first time in the 2021-22 regular season on Saturday, November 13 in the Cameron Hospital Classic versus Kenyon College. That game tips off at 7 pm.
