LILBURN, Ga. – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has announced its All-Americans for the 2021-22 season. Senior guard Tara Bieniewicz [Chesterfield, Mich. / Dakota] has been honored as an All-American selection for the first time in her career this year.
The WBCA Player of the Year and the 10-member All-America team in each division are selected by a committee of WBCA member coaches in that division (NCAA Divisions II, and III, NAIA, two-year college and high school).
Bieniewicz led the Thunder in their first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament Championship Semifinal after hosting the First and Second Rounds and winning a Sectional Championship at Transylvania University. The team had the fourth-best scoring defense (47.3 PPG) in the nation and notched the lowest three-point field goal percentage defense in program history at 22.1%.
The senior guard broke the school record with 85 three-point field goal makes in the 2021-22 season, the fourth-most in NCAA DIII. She was also able to tie the Trine record for most three's in a game with eight versus Springfield College in the NCAA Tournament. Bieniewicz scored a team-high 11.1 points per game this season and shot 40.5% from beyond the arc. Along with her efficient shooting, she had 2.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game with a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio.
