ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's basketball team saw three representatives receive All-Region awards by D3hoops.com. Senior Tara Bieniewicz [Chesterfield, Mich. / Dakota] was tabbed First Team All-Region, classmate Kayla Wildman [Rockford, Mich. / Rockford] was a Second Team All-Region honoree, and head coach Andy Rang was named Co-Coach of the Year in Region 7.
This is the third time in her career that Bieniewicz has been named an All-Region player after being recognized on the Third Team in 2020 and Second Team in 2021. Bieniewicz is averaging a team-high 11.3 points per game and shot 41.2% from three-point range. Along with her ability to score the basketball, Bieniewicz also brings in 3.0 rebounds per game, 1.4 assists per game and has 22 steals and 22 blocked shots.
Wildman has been mentioned as an All-Region player for the first time in the 2021-22 season. Wildman scores 8.8 points per game (second on the team) while shooting 34.4% from deep. She currently sits third in Trine women's basketball history in most three-point field goals with 152 and is just two away from second-place in the record book. The senior guard helped guide the Thunder to a regular season Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) title by leading the team with 11.0 points per game against league opponents. Wildman secures 2.9 rebounds per game, dishes out 1.4 assists per game and has notched 26 steals and 10 blocks this season.
Andy Rang and Brian Morehouse from Hope College will share the 2021-22 All-Region Coach of the Year honors after sharing the MIAA regular season title. Coach Rang has led the Thunder to the National Championship Semifinals for the first time in school history and has collected 28 wins thus far, a new program best. In his four seasons, Rang has the best winning percentage of any women's basketball coach in school history with a record of 91-15 (.858).
