ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's basketball team continues to jockey for position near the top of the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, this week garnering third place honors. Trine lost a spot to their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) running mates, Hope College.
The Thunder still hold four first-place votes, second to only the number one Christopher Newport University Captains. The Captains remained unbeaten at 21-0, but had to gut out a 74-70 win over the University of California Santa Cruz Banana Slugs on February 12.
At 20-2, Trine was able to upend Albion College, who is receiving votes in this week's poll, Kalamazoo College and Calvin University this week. Rachel Stewart [Pekin, Ind. / Eastern] made massive contributions by bringing in 23 rebounds and recording 12 steals, a team-high in both categories. The Thunder have won 12 in a row entering the final week of the regular season.
Trine competes in their final regular season home game of the season this Wednesday, February 16 at 7:30 pm versus Saint Mary's College. Following that, the Thunder venture to Adrian College on Saturday, February 19 for the regular season finale at 1 pm.
