ANGOLA, Ind. – D3hoops.com has unveiled their week seven Top 25 Poll, with the Trine University women's basketball team sitting 13th after two victories last week. The team is also ranked 14th in the most recent Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Coaches Poll.
The Thunder were on the road for a pair of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contests. On Wednesday, the team defeated Alma College 66-53. The teams were tied at halftime before winning the third quarter by a tally of 24-8. It was a historic victory for the Thunder on Saturday when they topped Kalamazoo College 84-16. It is tied for the fewest points allowed in an NCAA DIII game in program history.
Looking ahead, Trine plays host to Albion College on Wednesday, January 18 at 7:30 p.m. The Britons are 11-4 on the season and 6-1 in MIAA play. Albion just defeated Hope College, who dropped to ninth in the D3hoops.com poll, by a score of 69-53 on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Abby Sanner has developed nicely as the season rolls on. In seven conference games, Sanner is averaging 9.6 points per game, a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game and has blocked five shots. Sanner and Katie Sloneker will draw the assignment of guarding the best player on the Britons, Daniah Beavers.
