ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's basketball team climbed in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll to number 15 after defeating nationally-ranked Calvin University last Saturday. The team is 22nd in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) poll.
Three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) schools remain inside the national poll, with Hope College #8, Trine #15 and Calvin University #23. Add in Ohio Northern University (#11) and Baldwin Wallace University (#12) and there are five teams from the region in the week 11 poll.
The Thunder are riding a three-game win streak after defeating Alma College (73-51), Kalamazoo College (82-45) and Calvin University (59-54). Sidney Wagner was chosen as the MIAA Athlete of the Week by averaging 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game on 63.6% (14-of-22) from the field.
Heading into the final week of the regular season, Trine will honor their senior class on Saturday, February 18 when the Thunder host Adrian College at 1 p.m. The senior class of Alyssa Argyle, Makayla Ardis, Katie Sloneker, Sophie Sloneker and Sam Underhill will be honored prior to the game against the Bulldogs. The mid-week matchup for Trine will come at Saint Mary's College on Wednesday, February 15 at 7 p.m.
