ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's basketball team jumped up to the number 11 spot in the week eight D3hoops.com Top 25 poll. In the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) poll, the team is ranked 13th.
The Thunder won their only game of the week on Wednesday by a score of 68-41 against the Albion College Britons. Trine dominated defensively and held the Britons to 28.6% shooting and 1-of-15 from beyond the arc. 41 total points is the fewest Albion has scored in a game this season.
At 14-3, Trine is the highest-ranked team in the nation with three losses, all coming at the hands of nationally-ranked opponents. The Thunder currently have the toughest strength of schedule out of MIAA squads with a combined opponent winning percentage of .567.
On Wednesday, January 25, #11 Trine will host #8 Hope College in a rematch of their December conference game. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. inside the MTI Center. In the previous meeting between these to teams, the Thunder were victorious 76-64. Sidney Wagner had a career-high 29 points on the afternoon with four rebounds and six assists. Wagner, Makayla Ardis and Sierra Hinds buried multiple three-point field goals to put the team in front.
