CHICAGO, ILL.-- Trine's wrestling team defeated McDaniel, but fell to Dubuque and Chicago finish 1-2 at the University of Chicago Duals held Saturday afternoon at the University of Chicago.
Trine earned a 22-21 victory over McDaniel. The Thunder fell to Dubuque 36-6, and Chicago 40-6. Mackenzie Green (Buchanan, Mich./Buchanan) turned in Trine's best performance, going a perfect 3-0 on the day. Green defeated Jeff Tyburski of Chicago in a 6-0 decision, Drew Lattner of Dubuque by 7-0 decision, and capped off his day with a 5-1 win by decision over Taylor Avino of McDaniel. Six schools competed in the University of Chicago Duals.
Michael Connor (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) added a 2-1 performance on the day for Trine. Connor's wins came by 5-2 decision over Dakota Wilhelm of McDaniel, and by 6-4 decision over Logan Chappell of Dubuque.
Brandon Preston (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) picked up his lone victory of the day by 7-4 decision over Adam Wyeth of Chicago. Shane Hendrickson (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) picked up big points in the victory over McDaniel with a 8-2 decision over Ricky Tisinger.
The Thunder will travel to Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa. for the Budd Whitehill Duals, which will be held Jan. 10-11.
