ADRIAN, MICH. – The Trine women's soccer team was defeated by Adrian College by the score of 2-0.
The Bulldogs started the game strong offensively, forcing the Thunder's senior goalkeeper Kristina Veljovic (Valparaiso/Valparaiso) to make a flurry of saves to start the game. But the defense looked like it would hold as the game remained scoreless into the later parts of the first half.
In the 42nd minute of the game that would change, as two Adrian players got behind Trine's defense and put the ball into the lower left corner of the net.
The Bulldog's second goal would come off of a penalty kick in the 65th minute of the game that was placed over the head and out of the reach of Veljovic.
The Thunder would end the night with three shots on goal, two of which came from Sophomore Marisa Robinett (Auburn/DeKalb). The final shot on goal came from freshman Courtney Reece (Indianapolis/Roncalli).
Trine will look to rebound from the loss when they travel to face Oliver College on Thursday, Sept. 14. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
