MARSHALL, MICH. -- The Trine University women's golf team started off its 2020-21 season with a runner-up team finish at the Kyle Campbell Invitational hosted by Olivet (Mich.) College at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Mich.
The Thunder had two players finish in the top-five individually to lead Trine to an overall total of 348 strokes to place second of five teams, just four strokes behind host school Olivet who won the event with a score of 344 strokes. Cleary (Mich.) University rounded out the top three teams at 349 strokes.
Sophomore Maire Sullivan (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth) and junior Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) both finished in the top-five with Sullivan posting the top overall score for Trine at 83 strokes for the 18-hole tournament and placed fourth overall. Doumont finished a stroke back at 84 strokes and tied for fifth place.
Both Sullivan and Doumont went on to earn All-Tournament honors as top-five finishers.
Sophomore Lily Williamson (Colfax, Ind./Western Boone) and junior Karlee Fackler (Fort Wayne, Ind./Heritage) completed the four-person roster with scores of 87 and 94 strokes, respectively. Williamson's total tied her for 10th place among the field and Fackler finished in a tie for 16th.
Trine is scheduled to host a single-round tournament on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
