ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine women's soccer team was defeated by Albion, 3-0 in MIAA-action Saturday evening in Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium.
Olivia Paquette scored twice to lead the Britons to the victory. Domenique Sarnecky added a goal and an assist. Alyssa Brooks and Kayla Paquette picked up assists for Albion, while Cameron Schmidt added four saves to earn the shutout. Albion improved to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the MIAA. Trine fell to 1-6 overall, 0-5 in conference play.
Audrey Poteet (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) made her first-career start in net for the Thunder. She made seven saves, including several at point-blank range.
Sarnecky scored the only goal of the first half as she skied over the defense to head in a corner kick by Brooks.That was all the scoring the first half would see.
The first of Olivia Paquette's goals came off a pass from Kayla Paquette. Her second goal in the closing seconds provided the final 3-0 margin.
Albion outshot Trine by an 18-11 margin.
Trine will host Olivet this Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. at Weaver Field.
