HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Freshman Abby Robison of the Trine University women's soccer team has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week after she finished with two crucial goals during the stretch.
It is the second time this season that a Thunder student-athlete has been named to the award. It is the first time in Robison's career that she has been named an athlete of the week.
Trine finished the week 1-0-1 with a pair of positive results against MIAA opponents.
They began the week and the conference season with a 2-0 victory over Saint Mary's College. Robison came up with the first and game-winning goal, finishing off a beautiful cross from sophomore Bell Mabry.
In the second game of the week, Trine trailed the defending MIAA Tournament Champions from Hope College for most of the game. In the 75th minute of play Robison once again finished off a set piece in the offensive zone to tie the game at one. The game would end in a tie, securing a crucial point in the standings for the Thunder.
The team will return to the pitch tomorrow, Tuesday, October 4 when they host Adrian College for a 4 p.m. contest.
