ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine University men's soccer team continued its winning ways this fall with a 3-0 shutout against Adrian (Mich.) College in non-conference action at Weaver Field.
Today's game marked the second matchup between the two teams this season. The Thunder defeated the Bulldogs, 4-1, in the first head-to-head contest in mid-September.
All three goals scored came in the first half and began with a marker off of a header by freshman Hamsah Saleh (Detroit, Mich./Frontier International Academy) just 7:23 into the game. Sophomore Jared Cromwell (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northview) was given the assist after setting up Saleh for the scoring attempt.
After scoring four goals in a win against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Trine's last game, junior Kaliel Alisaid (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) continued his impressive offensive play with an unassisted goal during the 22nd minute that increased the advantage to 2-0.
Alisaid added another point to his afternoon total when he tallied an assist on Trine's final goal of the game that was scored by fellow junior Connor Malmquist (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) at the 32:46 mark and sent the home team into the locker room with a three-goal lead.
Adrian (0-3) took six shots in the second half with three of shots being on net, but none found their mark as Trine freshman netminder Troy Saylor (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia) kept the Bulldogs scoreless to help the Thunder improve to 4-0 on the year.
Trine will wrap-up its fall portion of the schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 14 when it travels to Southfield, Mich. to take on Lawrence Tech. The game is set to start at 7 p.m.
