ROYAL OAK, MICH.-- Trine's Tyler Bourdo has been named First-Team All-MIAA, the conference announced as part of the league's all-conference release Tuesday.
Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) earned All-MIAA honors for the third-consecutive season, giving him all-conference honors in each year of his Trine career. The junior won MIAA Track Athlete of the Week honors twice during the season. The first honor came on the heels of his win in the 400-Meter Dash at the DePauw Invitational. He also placed second in the 200-Meter Dash at that event. Bourdo also picked up Track Athlete of the Week honors for beating a field that included Division II runners to win the 400-Meter Dash at the Al Owens Invitational. He also placed second in the 200-Meter Dash at that event.
Bourdo excelled at this year's MIAA Field Day, with success in three events. He won the 400-Meter Dash in 48.72 seconds, which he immediately followed with a school-record 21.79 second run in the 200-Meter Dash to place second. Bourdo was also part of the first-place 4 x 400 Relay Team.
A successful indoor season saw Bourdo earn All-American honors. He place fifth in the nation in the 400-Meter Dash at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
Members of the Trine track and field team will compete in the Louisville Twilight this weekend. Bourdo has qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan May 23-24.
