GENEVA, Ohio – The Trine University track and field team had all three student-athletes in action on Thursday, the first of three days in the 2022 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
In the discus throw, senior Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] placed 20th with a toss of 32.61 meters (107' 0.00"). She will look to accumulate her second All-American award in the hammer throw on Saturday. She enters that event as the number two seed.
Jake Gladieux [Oregon, Ohio / Whitmer] competed in the 400-meter hurdle event prelims on Thursday. He finished 13th overall with a time of 53.17 seconds. He will have an opportunity to pick up All-American honors with the 110-meter hurdle preliminary event on Friday afternoon.
Evie Miller [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] wrapped up the day for the Thunder in the 3000-meter steeplechase prelims. Miller went P2 overall and qualified for Saturday's finals with a time of 10:42.37. She will compete next in finals for the steeplechase and 5000-meter run on Saturday.
