FREELAND, Mich. – Senior Greysen Spohn [Peru, Ind. / Peru] of the Trine University men's track and field team has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Track Athlete of the Week. It is the first time in his career winning the conference's weekly award.
Spohn competed in four events for the Thunder and scored points in three of them at the Little State Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University last weekend. He helped Trine gather a sixth-place finish out of 15 competing teams.
Spohn was a second-place finisher in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.72 seconds. He also was a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that sat second with a time of 41.69 seconds. In the high jump, the senior set a new personal best at 2.00 meters (6' 6.75") and finished third overall. His last event of the meet was a 10th-place spot in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.10 seconds.
The Lancer Invitational at Grace College on Friday, April 29 will be the team's final tune-up before the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
