GENEVA, Ohio – The Trine University track and field team concluded action at the 2022 NCAA DIII Outdoor National Championships on Saturday with three student-athletes going for four event championships.
Senior Evie Miller [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] started the day on the right foot by winning her first career national championship in the 3000-meter steeplechase. She secured a meet record time of 10:07.22 and tallied her eighth career All-American in track and field. It is also her fifth different event that she has been in the top-8 in all of NCAA DIII. Miller becomes the fifth different Trine track and field student-athlete to win a national championship, and third in the NCAA DIII era. Later in the afternoon, Miller would DNF in her second championship event of the meet, the 5000-meter run.
Jake Gladieux [Oregon, Ohio / Whitmer] was also tabbed an All-American in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday. After running a 14.35-second time in prelims Friday, the junior followed that up by going 14.31 seconds in the finals. He finished sixth overall and notched his third career All-American award.
Senior Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] was a competitor in the hammer throw and fouled on all three of her preliminary attempts.
