MARIAN, Ind. – In a loaded field at the Indiana Wesleyan University Polar Bear Classic, the Trine University women's track and field team competed for the first time in the outdoor season.
Three student-athletes brought home finishes inside the top ten in their races. Bailey Puckett was fourth in the 1500-meter run at 4:51.46, while Halle Overmire was sixth in the 800-meter run at 2:26.21 and Sidney Swick seventh in the 5000-meter run at 18:25.33. Personal best times were accumulated by Puckett and Swick.
Field events were led by Abby Sanner, who led the team in the discus, shot put and hammer throw. Sanner was 11th in the discus (35.98 meters / 118' 0.00"), 14th in the shot put (10.55 meters / 34' 7.50") and 16th in the hammer throw (35.29 meters / 115' 9.00"). Avery Boyce was the team leader in the pole vault at 2.95 meters (9' 8.00"), good for an 18th place spot.
Just outside the top-ten was Piper Barker in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Baker completed the event with a time of 13:17.52 to score an 11th place finish, a new personal record.
