HILLSDALE, MICH. -- The Trine University women's outdoor track and field team concluded the annual three-day Gina Relays hosted by Hillsdale College following the final day of competition in Hillsdale, Mich.
The unscored event consisted of teams from NCAA Division I, II and III schools as well as the NAIA.
Individually, the Thunder were led in the field events by junior Valerie Obear (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) who finished as the runner-up in the discus with a throw of 132' 5.00".
Freshman Haley Livingston (Fort Worth, Texas/Everman) had a strong finish in the triple jump by placing third thanks to a best jump of 35' 9.50".
Sophomore Madelyn Summers (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) and junior Autumn Presley (Pleasant Lake, Ind./Angola) rounded out the top finishes in the field events with a pair of top-10 efforts. Summers placed eighth overall in the shot following a throw of 36' 7.00" and Presley was 10th in the pole vault at a height of 9' 5.25".
The remaining running events were all relays and the best overall finish for Trine came in the 4x800-meter relay with a second-place showing. The team of junior Chloe Brittain (Breckenridge, Mich./Breckenridge), sophomore Amira Faulkner (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook), freshman Ana Parker (White Lake, Mich./Walled Lake Northern) and senior Evie Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) recorded a combined time of 9:41.65 to finish as the runner-up.
Trine will set its sights on the MIAA Outdoor Championships that begin on Thursday, May 6 and will be hosted by Alma College in Alma, Mich. The first events on Thursday are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
