FREELAND, Mich. -- Freshman Haley Livingston (Fort Worth, Texas / Everman) has been named 2021 Women's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Most Valuable Field Athlete after this past weekend's MIAA Outdoor Championship. The Thunder also racked up 14 All-MIAA honors across the men's and women's teams.
Livingston made a huge impact throughout the championship meet for the Thunder finishing with a pair of individual championships as well as two more runner-up performances. She picked up her first victory on the opening day of the competition with a 17' 0.75" effort in the long jump. She then picked up another win in the triple jump on the second day with a 10.61m effort. She then finished as runner-up in the 100m hurdles and as part of the Trine 4x100m relay.
Livingston's two individual victories also made her a two-time All-MIAA athlete. Joining her as a two-time honoree was a junior teammate Valerie Obear (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) who won the discus with a throw of 41.47m and in the hammer throw with a 176' 1.00" effort. Megan Theismann (Ossian, Ind. / Norwell) with a 10,000m victory (38:09.10) and Autumn Presley (Pleasant Lake, Ind. / Angola) in the pole vault (2.80m) accounted for the other honors for the women's team.
The Trine men's track and field team picked up eight All-MIAA honors on the way to their first MIAA Outdoor Championship. Sophomore Jake Gladieux (Oregon, Ohio / Whitmer) led the team with a pair of honors following victories in the 110m hurdles (15.15) and in 400m hurdles (53.97). Sophomore Ben Williams (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Harrison) came up with a victory in the 200m dash with a time of 22.58 and senior Neil O'Brien (Whiteland, Ind. / Roncalli) came up with one in the steeplechase (9:24.72) to both receive All-MIAA honors as individuals.
The final All-MIAA honors came from the 4x100m relay team who won with a time of 41.68. The team included Williams, senior Jacob Root (Vicksburg, Mich. / Vicksburg), junior Josh Davis (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Sterling Heights) and sophomore William Thonn (Rochester, Ind. / Rochester).
