ANGOLA, IND. -- Trine University women's outdoor track and field members Haley Livingston (Fort Worth, Texas/Everman) and Megan Theismann (Ossian, Ind./Norwell) were named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Outdoor "Field Athlete of the Week" and "Track Athlete of Week."
The Thunder competed this past weekend at the three-day unscored Gina Relays hosted by Hillsdale (Mich.) College.
On Friday, Livingston finished in the top-five in the long jump with a best leap of 17' 8.75" which put her third overall. Then on Saturday, Livingston followed her effort in the long jump with a strong finish in the triple jump by placing third overall thanks to a best jump of 35' 9.50". Additonally, Livingston also competed in the 100-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash. In the hurdles, she placed 14th after posting a time of 16.15 seconds and then finished in 11th place in the 200m with a mark of 26.65 seconds.
Theismann, placed 16th in the 5000-meter run, but set a Trine outdoor record in the process with a mark of 17:25.13. Her time improved upon the previous record of 17:37.52 that was previously held by Amanda Portis.
Trine will set its sights on the MIAA Outdoor Championships that begin on Thursday, May 6 and will be hosted by Alma College in Alma, Mich. The first events on Thursday are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
