INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Three from the Trine University men's and women's track and field team have qualified for the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. The event will take place on Thursday, May 26 through Saturday, May 28 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Senior Evie Miller [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] has been selected to compete in two events: the 3000-meter steeplechase and 5000-meter run. Miller holds the best time in the nation in the steeplechase at 10:06.26 and enters the 5000 with the fifth-best mark of 16:26.99.
Senior Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] will also be in action in two events. She will take part in the hammer throw and discus, where she has the second-best hammer (59.50 meters / 195' 2.00") and twelfth-best discus (44.10 meters / 144' 8.00") in the country.
On the men's side, junior Jake Gladieux [Oregon, Ohio / Whitmer] has made it to nationals in both the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Gladieux has a top-five time in each race and is looking to defend his national championship from last season in the 400-meter hurdle event.
