HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Jake Gladieux of the Trine University men's track & field team has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week award winner after tallying event wins in the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdle events for the team champion Thunder.
The Oregon, Ohio native has been tabbed as the MIAA's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week six times now in his career as he looks to make a return trip to the NCAA National Championships in 2024. At the MIAA Outdoor Championships, Gladieux broke the meet records in both hurdle events and secured a pair of top-five finishes as a member of the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams.
In the preliminary rounds, Gladieux ran a 14.33-second time in the 110-meter hurdles and a time of 55.50 seconds to qualify for the event finals in the 400-meter hurdles. He would go on to break the meet records with times of 14.23 seconds and 52.10 seconds in each event en route to individual victories.
The 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams both finished third at the MIAA Outdoor Championships. The team of Maxwell Harris, Greysen Spohn, Jayjouir Roberts and Gladieux completed the 4x100-meter race in 41.83 seconds and Gladieux, Philip Nemechek, Ryan Smith and Tyler Hartleroad ran a 3:18.86 in the 4x400-meter relay.
The next few weeks of action will be Last Chance Meets leading up to the NCAA DIII Outdoor National Championships at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on May 23-25.
