ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's hockey team has released their schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
The Thunder have a full slate of 25 games, with 13 scheduled inside of Thunder Ice Arena and 12 set for the road. The team begins the season by heading to face Stevenson University, a team that Trine split their two games with last year. The Thunder opened the year with a 5-1 victory over the Mustangs before falling in November by the score of 3-2.
The team hops directly into Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play for their second weekend of competition when they host Concordia University Wisconsin. They follow that with a home-and-home doubleheader against Adrian College, the reigning regular season NCHA champions. They then head to face Aurora University for a non-conference contest against the reigning Slaats Cup Champions.
Trine finishes off the stretch with two more home NCHA contests against Marian (Wis.) University. Last year the team was undefeated against the Sabres, finishing their four games with a 3-0-1 record.
The Thunder finish off the 2022 portion of their schedule by traveling to face Hilbert College for a pair of games. The Hawks are competing in their inaugural season of women's hockey and are featured four times on Trine's schedule. The second pair comes near the end of January at home, the Friday night game, coming on January 20, will be the Thunder's annual "Pink the Rink" contest.
The team begins January by hosting Lake Forest College for a non-conference game before heading to Face Finlandia University for the weekend NCHA doubleheader. Trine swept the Lions last season, despite playing the games as part of a stretch with four contests in five days.
The end of January through February sees the Thunder finish off the NCHA schedule with one more extra contest against Aurora. They will play doubleheaders on the road against Aurora and Lake Forest, both counting toward the league standings, with home stands against St. Norbert College and Lawrence University.
The season begins on Friday, October 28 on the road against Stevenson University. That opening game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
