ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's hockey team hosted a tough nationally-ranked Adrian College squad and came up short, despite playing them tough through two periods, by the score of 2-0.
The lone goal of the first period came with the Thunder down a skater due to penalty. After staving off two early power-play opportunities, Trine finally relinquished a goal to the Bulldogs' Julia Barrett.
The 1-0 lead lasted through the second period as both goaltenders stepped up and turned in a scoreless stanza. Then in the third Adrian pulled away scoring three goals including two in the last four minutes of the contest to win 4-0.
Junior Molly Scarborough (Ramsey, Minn.) turned in a stunning performance, despite the four goals, finishing the contest with 52 saves.
Trine falls to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) after the loss, while Adrian improves to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the NCHA. The two teams will meet again Sunday, November 11, this time in the Bulldogs' barn. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
