FREELAND, MICH.-- Trine's Skyler Reed has been named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Reed (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) earned the shutout in Trine's 1-0 victory over Manchester last week. The junior made five saves, including several on scoring threats to lead the Thunder to the victory. The shutout was the first of her career. On the season, Reed has played 225 of a possible 270 minutes in net for Trine. During that span, she has made 14 saves for a .778 save percentage. Trine has a 2-1 record entering this afternoon's match against Kalamazoo.
Reed accumulated a unique scoring line in the season-opening win at Franklin. She scored two goals on penalty kicks, while making six saves in the effort. Reed has scored seven goals in her Trine career.
The Thunder host Kalamazoo this afternoon in the MIAA-opener at 4:00 p.m.
