ANGOLA, Ind. -- The visiting Aurora University men's hockey team was too much for Trine University as they fell by the score of 3-1.
The Spartans tallied the first three goals of the contest to build a comfortable lead by the 15th minute of the second period.
The Thunder found the back of the net for themselves in the 16th minute of the second. At the 15:21 mark of the period the team was awarded their first power-play opportunity of the game. With the advantage, junior Jared Domin (Novi, Mich.) came up with the puck in the defensive end and passed it up the boards to classmate Garrett Hallford (McKinney, Texas) who carried it into the offensive end. Hallford passed it off to freshman Jared Bowman (Calgary, Alberta) who carried the puck to the point and passed it back to Hallford who finished off the play with the goal, his third of the season.
Trine was unable to score again in the contest and fell by the score of 3-1.
Freshman Shane Brancato (Lake Villa, Ill.) played the game in net for the team and ended up with 30 saves in the loss.
The Thunder fall to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play following the loss.
