HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced Josh Fletcher as the conference's 2024 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year. This prestigious accolade is decided by coaches based on their colleagues' achievements during regular and post-season competitions. The head of the Trine University men's track & field program was also selected as the 2024 Men's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year upon reinstating the award this school year.
"I'm very blessed to have incredible athletes and coaches to work with," commented Fletcher. "Our men's outdoor season started off a little rough, but our men continued to overcome adversity and showed up big at the Field Day Championships, I'm very proud of them. Seniors Jake Gladieux, Greysen Spohn and Kimball Hughes had not only a great senior year, but a great career at Trine University, they will be greatly missed. I want to thank all of our alumni and parents for their support during the season."
Fletcher helped lead the Thunder to their fourth consecutive MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship and the team secured their ninth straight title overall between the indoor and outdoor seasons. Event wins were secured by Gladieux in both the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. He would qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships for the fourth year in a row. During the outdoor season, the men's team set two new school records.
The NCAA DIII Outdoor National Championships begin on Thursday, May 23 and run through Saturday, May 25 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
