NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Trine University women’s golf team place sixth at the Manchester College Invitational with a team total of 383.
Played at the par-72, 5,965 yard Honeywell Golf Course, St. Francis (IN) took home the team title with a score of 343.
The Thunder finished just nine strokes behind fifth place Mount St. Joseph. The Trine B team finished 9th with a score of 415.
Freshman Laura Carey (Jonesboro, Ind./Madison Grant), playing for the B team, had the low round for the Thunder carding a 93 to tie for 19th.
The top team score Trine came from senior Amanda Mainstone (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) who finished in a tie for 21st with a round of 94. Sophomore Leisha Beutler (Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson) and junior Lauren Burns (Seville, Ohio/Cloverleaf) carded rounds of 95 to tie for 23rd. Megan Morency (Muncie, Ind./Yorktown), a freshman, fired a round of 99 to finish in a tie for 31st. Rounding out the team scoring for Trine was junior Allie Buttery (Clarkston, Mich./Walled Lake Northern) who finished in 45th place with a round of 106.
Trine will next compete at the second MIAA Jamboree of the season hosted by Hope College on September 21 at 1:00 p.m.
