ANGOLA, Ind. -- Sophomore Cristian Wong-Ramos has been named this week's Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Defensive Player of the Week after a pair of great starts against nationally-ranked Adrian College this past weekend.
On Friday, Wong-Ramos made his first start for the team while appearing for just the fourth time in his career. He finished the game with 23 saves while allowing just three goals to the Bulldogs who average four or more per game. His work helped force overtime and earn the team a point toward the NCHA standings despite the 3-2 loss.
Then on Saturday, he repeated his performance, again allowing just two goals in regulation as the Thunder cruised to a 6-2 victory. He recorded 28 saves in the contest, as the program earned its first win against Adrian and secured three more points toward the standings.
All told he finished with 51 saves, a 2.49 goals against average and a .911 save percentage for the weekend.
Trine will look to build on momentum when they travel to New York for their next competition coming Saturday, November 26 against Utica College. That game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m
