DULUTH, Minn. -- Senior Brenan Prappas has been named this week's Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Offensive Player of the Week after his late game heroics propelled the Thunder to a 3-2 victory over nationally-ranked St. Norbert College.
This is the fifth time this season that an Thunder student-athlete has taken home the award and the second time for Prappas during his career.
Prappas played the hero during the team's come from behind victory over the visiting Green Knights, who are currently ranked 14th by USCHO.com's national poll. After trailing 2-1 with two minutes remaining in regulation, Prappas knotted up the game with his first goal of the weekend forcing overtime. Then in the opening minutes of the extra period he poked the puck past the last St. Nobert skater in and went the length of the ice for the game winner.
He led the team with three points over the weekend doubleheader, adding an assist on Friday to finish with three.
Trine secured a spot in the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs with this past weekend's split. They currently sit fifth in the standings with four games remaining. They next take the ice when they travel to face Lake Forest College in a pair of contests, the first of which begins at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, February 3.
