ROYAL OAK, MICH.-- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Trine's Trisha King the conference's Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) set a Trine outdoor record in the 800-meter run at Grand Valley State University's Al Owens Invitational, running a time of 2:13.69 Saturday. That time was more than 1.4 seconds better than the second-place finisher. The junior topped a field that included mostly NCAA Division I and II runners. King is being honored as Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career.
King is coming a strong indoor season that saw her earn All-American honors after placing fifth in the nation in the 800-meter run. She set a school-record in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.26.
Trine will compete in the Hillsdale Gina Relays this weekend, with competition starting Friday, Apr. 25 at 3:00 p.m.
