NAPERVILLE, Ill. - It was a tough end for Trine University sophomore Tyler Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by North Central College after being the first Thunder athlete to ever qualify for the event.
Bourdo, an All-MIAA honoree, had qualified 5th for the 400m after running a top-13 time during the indoor season. In the prelims, Bourdo ran a 49.01 which would have qualified him 6th overall and put him into the finals, but he was later disqualified for running three steps inside the line by the EagleEye camera system used at the finals.
With the MIAA outdoor season approaching, Bourdo will look to also qualify for the outdoor championships after finishing second in the 200m and third in the 400m at the MIAA Field Day a season ago.
