FREELAND, Mich. – Evie Bultemeyer [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] and Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] of the Trine University women's track and field team have been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athletes of the Week. Bultemeyer takes home the Women's Track award while Livingston, who won the track honors last week, has been selected as the Women's Field award winner.
Bultemeyer set a new personal best time in the 3000-meter run at the Indiana Tech Strive for Greatness Indoor Meet and broke her own school record with a time of 9:43.13. Her previous mark was set at 10:00.81. In the race, she won by 23 seconds over second place.
Livingston set a school record as well at the event in the triple jump. On her sixth and final attempt, the sophomore recorded a jump of 11.23 meters (36' 10.25") to place fifth at the Indiana Tech Strive for Greatness Indoor Meet. The previous school record was held by Abigail Kuhlman at 10.49 meters (34' 5").
The Thunder are off until Saturday, January 15 when Trine hosts the Sean Brady Alumni Open.
