FREELAND, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has named the Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week following the MIAA Indoor Championships this past weekend. Trine was able to sweep the awards with sophomore Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] winning MIAA Field Athlete of the Week and senior Evie Miller [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] taking MIAA Track Athlete of the Week.
Livingston won two events at the MIAA Indoor Championships and broke three school records as well as two conference meet records. She was first in the long jump at 5.57 meters (18' 3.25") and the 60-meter hurdles at 8.94 seconds. Both of those marks topped the previous best in school and MIAA history. In the 60-meter dash, Livingston was second with a new school record time of 7.91 seconds. The sophomore also scored points for Trine in the triple jump with a second-place finish and third-place in the 200-meter run.
On the track side of things, Miller topped the charts in the mile and 3000-meter run events. She secured a time of 5:10.01 to win the mile race by a margin of less than one second. In the 3000-meter run, Miller went 10:19.20 in victory. The senior was also a second-place finisher for the Thunder in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.64.
This weekend, Trine track and field hits the road for the Last Chance Meet at Wartburg College on March 4 and 5.
