ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's hockey team has released their schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
The Thunder have a full slate of 25 games for the season, with 12 taking place inside Thunder Ice Arena and 13 on the road. The team begins by hosting SUNY Fredonia for a pair of games. It's the third-straight year that the Blue Devils have been featured on the schedule. This year's games take place on Parents' Weekend.
Trine follows up by jumping into Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) competition. They head to Iowa to face the conference newcomers from the University of Dubuque before returning to home to square off with St. Norbert College.
The team hits the road for four-straight games to finish out the November slate. They will take on Lake Forest College in the conference matchup before heading to the Canton Tournament and facing SUNY Canton and SUNY Potsdam over Thanksgiving break. A final home series against Marian University finishes off competition before the Winter Break.
The Thunder return to action on December 29th and 30th when they head to face Hamilton College, before returning home for a January 5th non-conference game against Adrian College.
The team alternates between away and home over the next four weekends, all coming against NCHA opponents. They travel to face the Milwaukee School of Engineering and Concordia University Wisconsin while hosting Aurora University and Lawrence University. The doubleheader against Lawrence will feature Alumni Night and Senior Night contests.
The season ends with a home-and-home with Adrian beginning on Friday, February 9. The Thunder will play hosts on Saturday.
Trine finished the 2022-23 season 18-9-1 overall and 12-6 in NCHA play, good enough for fourth in the conference standings. During the postseason, they reached their second straight, and third in four years, Harris Cup Playoffs semifinals. For the first time in the program's history the team broke into the USCHO.com national poll, ranked 15th following the first round of the playoffs.
The Thunder open the season on Friday, October 27. That game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
