EXCELSIOR, Minn. – The Trine University men's hockey team dropped one spot in the latest edition of the USCHO.com NCAA Division III coaches poll, coming in ranked 12th in the nation.
The Thunder received more points than a week ago, nabbing votes worth 99 points, but still fell slightly in the rankings. They are currently just ten points out of tenth place, currently held by Trinity College (Conn.), and just four points out of 11th-placed Norwich University. Adrian College remains the only other member of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) to be ranked, moving back into fourth this week. St. Norbert continues to receive votes.
This past weekend, Trine picked up two wins against MSOE. On Friday, they shutout their hosts for a 2-0 victory. Sam Antenucci tallied a pair of assists to lead the team offensively. On Saturday, the team needed overtime but came up with a second win by the score of 4-3. Antenucci scored the game winner in OT, with Bobby Price leading the team with two goals and an assist.
The Thunder continue NCHA play this upcoming weekend. They are set to host Aurora University beginning on Friday, January 19 at 7 p.m.
