ALLENDALE, MICH. -- Members of the Trine University women's indoor track team traveled to Michigan to compete in the Grand Valley State (Mich.) University "Big Meet" in Allendale, Mich.
Junior Evie Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) broke two school records beginning in the 800-meter run where she finished seventh overall among a field composed of NCAA Division I, II, and NAIA opponents (46 total individuals). Her time of 2:11.96 set a Trine indoor record by four one-hundreths of a second and surpassed Trisha King's previous mark (2:12.00) that she recorded in Feb. 2015.
Bultemeyer also competed in the mile run and finished second overall among 82 runners placing behind only Hailey Streff from Division II Colorado State University-Pueblo in a time of 4:53.27. Her mark also broke her own school record in the event of 4:53.48 that she set last season at the NCAA Division Indoor Championship meet. Sophomore Chloe Brittain (Breckenridge, Mich./Breckenridge) also competed in the event and placed 50th overall after posting a mark of 5:12.86.
Trine will compete in the DePauw University Invitational tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 15) in Greencastle, Ind. The first events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
