MARION, Ind.-- The Trine women's track and field team set a new school record and notched two first-place finishes in the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational, held Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan's Indoor Sports Complex.
Jensyn Garrow (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) set a new program-best mark in the 60-meter dash. The freshman ran a time of 8.51 seconds in the preliminaries of the event to beat the old school mark by .01 seconds. Garrow also placed fourth in the 400-meter run and the 200-meter dash, with both performances coming in personal-best times.
Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) continued her dominance of throwing events, winning both the shot put and weight throw. The reigning All-American's weight throw distance came in at 56 feet, 1.25 inches. She also won the shot put by three feet with a toss of 44 feet, 2.75 inches. Eck currently ranks fourth in the nation in the weight throw and ninth in the shot put.
Jenn Steyer (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) gave the Thunder the top two spots in the weight throw. Steyer's throw came in at a distance of 50 feet, 9.25 inches. Steyer and Eck were the only two performers to top 50 feet in the event.
Lacie Piekarski (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) added a third-place finish in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:02.50. Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) and Samantha Stensland (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) each finished a second back to place fourth and fifth respectively.
Hannah Blystone (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) added a fifth-place finish in the Mile Run. The freshman ran a time of 5:36.

Trine will host the Don and Riley Zimmer Indoor Classic Friday, Jan. 29. Events are slated to get underway at 5 p.m. in Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center.
